His wife is currently recovering from gallbladder surgery. Currently, the Mussumba family is living in two hotel rooms with a hot pot they have been told that General Assistance will no longer pay and they are heading to a shelter either in Portland or South Portland. While Pedro is awaiting his work papers, he and his family are also waiting for housing. Pedro’s dream is to raise his family of four children with his wife here in Maine among friends and community. They applied for asylum and were able to come to the United States eventually. They traveled to Brazil where they spent 6 months in the rainforest in a tent until they could get to Mexico.
The Mussumba family of 6 has had a long journey to get to the United States from their native country of Angola.
