He constructed an instrument, called Baraduc's biometer, that indicated the action of a nervous force and unknown vibrations outside the human body. His contribution to the study of vital emanation is significant. By photographic means he also claimed to have proved that something misty and vaporous leaves the human body at the moment of death. Noted nineteenth-century French psychical researcher who made interesting experiments in "thought photography" and in 1895 addressed a communication on the subject to the French Academy of Medicine.
